Code Snippets

Interesting to write our own code snippets. This is a new feature in Visual Studio 2005. You need to watch yourself which pieces of code you often use and its simple to write a snippet.

We create the snippets in a XML file with a .snippet extension. Below is a simple snippet to insert the following code.

Writing a snippet seemed to be tricky at first but not if we can just copy any of the current snippets provided by Microsoft and edit them as per our convenience.

This is a simple snippet, we can create advanced snippets like the one for stored procedures with little more effort. Making code snippets saves us time. We can use it to create any snippets which we frequently use.

Virtual India Project!

I recently came to know that Microsoft Research has released a first public build of their Virtual India research project with a few limitations.

They have street-level maps of only Bangalore. Language choices for the UI and map labels include English, Hindi, Kannada, and Tamil.

Virtual Earth @ Streetlevel !!

Have you ever wondered what if somebody drives along the road and takes pictures all around and see what they can do with them??

I was browsing through the Channel9 and I came across the RoadMap StreetLevel. Its called Windows Live Local. The Virtal Earth Team came up a whole new idea of GeoMap at the streetlevel. Insted of seeing the satellite view from the top, its just like being there at that place and what if you can drive right down the road, spin around your car, which you can never do on the street. Isnt it cool. This is how it looks like.

Right now, this is available for Seattle and San Francisco. You can find more info on MSDN Search WebBlog.

Try it !!! Its fun

Watch the Virtual Earth Team taking about the streetlevel on Channel9.

I am sure Google will come up with something similar. What do u say??

Change in LifeStyle

Talking about my India trip, it was more “fun & fast” than what I expected. The place was very different when I left to US one and a half year ago, its surprising how fast the lifestyle has changed, and there are few malls which impressed me. It really brings to my mind the amount of disposable income people gotten overnight.

This is “Hyderabad Central”, mall in Hyderabad. I plan to visit India again probably after 3 years and I wonder what it would be like then.

Spring break is near!!! got any plans???
